Ahead of the clash against CA Osasuna, Barcelona would ideally prefer to have as many players back as possible. Unfortunately, that will not be possible for them. Instead, Barcelona can at best hope to see a portion of their injured stars return.
Following Xavi’s recent press conference, the Catalan coach admitted that out of the two most likely candidates to feature against Osasuna following their respective recoveries, only one has more chances of actually making the match. That player, as per the coach, is Pedri, while it is still too soon for Joao Cancelo.
Not too long after, a major confirmation has now been provided. As per evidence provided by RAC1, midfield star Pedri is now back in team training. His arrival brings about a lot of hope and optimism within the Barcelona camp ahead of a massive encounter against CA Osasuna.
The €90 million-rated Barcelona superstar now has a strong chance to have some minutes against Osasuna tomorrow. His return also provides comfort to Xavi, who has been struggling to decide his midfield recently. At the moment, the only two constants for him remain Ilkay Gundogan and Frenkie De jong.
Joao Cancelo, on the other hand, continues to train on the sidelines. Alongside Pedri and Inigo Martinez, the Portuguese fullback was the third such player included in the squad list without medical clearance. Now, it seems that only Pedri will likely receive the medical green light ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.
Osasuna will undoubtedly be a tough opponent, and they will prove to be a big hurdle for Barça. However, with Pedri back, and Cancelo’s return also looking imminent, Xavi’s side have a lot to dream with. The Spanish Super Cup is La Blaugrana’s quickest route to a title this season, and it could help rejuvenate them.
