FC Barcelona have certain names on their mind as they approach the transfer window. While it seems that the primary focus will be to retain players who are already theirs, some additions will be made. However, given the economic restraints of Barcelona, their progression will have to be careful.

While some assets may look saleable, others are a priority to be retained. Contract renewals will thus be a major part of the summer for Barcelona, at least as per multiple reports. However, there are two names that many will be curious about as to what exactly their future entails, especially with Barcelona.

Those two names would be those of the Portuguese duo of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo. Many earlier reports claimed that the latter was considered a bigger priority for Barcelona as compared to his more offensive compatriot. However, the latest of updates would dare to suggest otherwise.

According to the information provided by SPORT, the actual goal of Barcelona is leaning slightly in the other direction. The Catalan giants, as per SPORT, are considering Felix to be as much of a, if not more, priority to be retained as Cancelo. They believe that retaining the Portuguese forward could prove to be vital.

However, not everyone will likely agree with this approach. While it is true that Felix has performed in certain big games and tends to display his best when the pressure is on, his regularity and consistency is often questioned. Even Barcelona, as per the report, agree with this sentiment.

Yet, La Blaugrana believe it is exactly his ability to shine in tense moments that warrant a stay for him. Even though this is their reported goal, they are aware of the difficulties of making it happen.

The negotiations that may be needed for Cancelo’s transfer, at least based on what is circulating at the moment, should be much easier than those needed for Felix.

Given the negotiating nature of Atletico Madrid, especially with rivals such as Barcelona, things will not be easy. Moreover, having signed an extension with Felix until 2029, they hold even more power now. The price tag that will likely be attached to his name will possibly be beyond Barça’s initial capabilities.

However, the ‘14’ of Barcelona is seen in a new light now. He is seen as a responsible player with the capability to be a light in dark moments, so FC Barcelona are open to negotiations. Moreover, they believe that more than one route could be taken to prolong his stay as well.
