Barcelona have sealed the contract renewal of 19-year-old defender

Barcelona lefr-back Alejandro Balde during the training session

Alejandro Balde has been one of the most explosively rising players in the Barcelona squad this season. The young Spanish left-back made his debut under Ronald Koeman in September 2021 but has been given more play time, even in significant matches, this season under Xavi.

The player is still only 19 years old and is increasingly becoming likelier to take on the left-back reins from the long-term Barcelona servant Jordi Alba. However, the club was seriously concerned about their ability to keep hold of this prized asset because of their fragile economic condition and problems with La Liga rules.

His current contract runs till 2024, but the club was reportedly trying its best to extend his contract to tie him with the club in the long term. Alejandro Balde himself was also ready and willing to tie himself with the Catalan club.

New reports from Ferran Correas now claim that the contract extension between the two parties has been finalized. While official confirmation and further details are still being awaited, it is expected that his new contract will run for 5 years, with a release clause of €1 billion.

His current wage of €210,000 per year is also expected to increase significantly, keeping in line with his performances on the pitch, and in order to keep other interested clubs away from keeping an eye on this highly prized asset of the club.
