FC Barcelona progress through this summer transfer window while looking forward to the upcoming official season as they simultaneously attempt to reinforce their squad in order to complete Xavi’s image of his current Barca side for the 2023/2024 season.
One key position that FC Barcelona are looking to reinforce this season is that of right-back, where the sporting staff at the club believes the side is understaffed in terms of specializing depth and quality players, having to use central defenders as makeshift fullbacks.
Among those that Barcelona have shortlisted for the position, names such as Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo and Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda stand out from the other players the Catalan club continues to assess and scout.
In a recent development, as per Jijantes FC, a select group of Directors at FC Barcelona were in a meeting with the agent of Ivan Fresneda, Raul Verdu, which lasted for approximately two hours according to the new report.
In terms of the contents discussed within the meeting, apart from the topic of the 18-year-old Spanish fullback the agent also discussed with the Barcelona Directors the options and status of various other players also contracted under his agency.
The names could range from various stars such as German winger Leroy Sane, currently contracted to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, or possibly even Italian forward Federico Chiesa, currently a player for Italian Serie A club Juventus. However, at the moment nothing concrete suggests a link or connection between these players and the objectives of FC Barcelona.
At the moment, the priority targets lie within acquiring an offensive midfielder as well as a specializing reliable right-back, with the latter containing the name of Ivan Fresneda is a very advanced target for FC Barcelona.
