Barcelona hope to bring in Vitor Roque this summer on certain conditions – report

Barcelona new signing Vitor Roque

The departure of a particular French star has Barcelona now attempting to rethink their transfer strategy for the remainder of the transfer window in order to reinforce different positions at this point.

One key area where Barcelona believe they must now also reinforce alongside bringing in top arrivals in both the midfield and fullback positions is in the offensive territory of the team.

Other names continue to circulate but an option that Barcelona are thoroughly examining is the arrival of Brazilian prodigy Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense this very summer.

Having already signed an agreement with Barcelona, the 18-year-old was originally expected to arrive in the summer of next year with a slight possibility of arriving in the coming month of January as well.

However, now it seems that Barcelona are studying the possible arrival of the player in this ongoing transfer window but there exist a few conditions to assess for that option to be brought to reality.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are hoping to bring in Roque to Spain this summer in the scenario that his current club Athletico Paranaense fails to advance further in the Copa Libertadores, which was one of their primary objectives for the season and one of the main reasons they wished to retain Roque for a little while longer.

However, they have lost the first leg of their tie against Bolivar with a scoreline of 1-3 in the Round of 16 of the tournament. If the Brazilian side fails to make a comeback in the second leg, they would already be eliminated from one of the major competitions that they had hoped to compete for.

Moreover, Barcelona are also aware that the Brazilian transfer window has already concluded on the 31st of July, and bringing in Roque now would leave his current side unable to find an alternative within their market, which is why Barcelona are adamant that only in the scenario that they fail in the Libertadores would the 18-year-old be brought over to Spain.

Barcelona will also need to generate adequate space within their salary margins as per the regulations of La Liga and Financial fair play, although that target may be more feasible given the departures of both Ousmane Dembele and Franck Kessie bound to take place sooner rather than later.
