A lot of excitement is there within FC Barcelona about the club’s upcoming season. That is because there are a lot of different fronts on which work is being done for the betterment of the club. Beyond just the dazzle and gleam of new signings, Barcelona are also working on other ambitious projects.

At the moment, much of the news and attention regarding Barcelona seems to be towards their financial situation and the 1:1 rule. For Barça to be able to sign more players, it has become increasingly clear that the only path to making that a possibility is to compromise on some assets to build a more sustainable future.

However, there is life to Barcelona beyond just the joys and glooms of the transfer market. As it happens, the club is still working on opening up their new and improved stadium, the Spotify Camp Nou. Having previously left their beloved home stadium to give it time to be rebuilt and restructured, the team has since been playing at Montjuic Stadium.

Fortunately for Barcelona, it seems that they have an idea of when they will be returning to the new and modernized Camp Nou. According to Mundo Deportivo, that date would be somewhere at the start of next year, as Barcelona want to play the second half of the upcoming season back in their own historic home ground, possibly even in January.

The transfer to Montjuic for now has been challenging in its own unique way. Beyond just the financial losses incurred due to playing at a stadium that is both not as big as Camp Nou and not exactly accessible to most who would like to come to watch Barça play, the team also seems to have a mental barrier as it does not exude the same confidence that the Camp Nou does.

However, MD states that the best-case scenario for Barcelona right now would be to return to Camp Nou in January. While the club had previously hoped that by November, their 125th anniversary, they could have returned to the Camp Nou, it seems that would be too ambitious even by the outrageous standards of FC Barcelona.

Yet, there are other concerns that will need to be cleared before a January return is possible. To be able to return to their beloved stadium, Barcelona will first need the approval of the City Council. However, that approval has its own stages and prerequisites. The first green light, as per MD, must come from the firefighters in the city.

To ensure that Barcelona is in accordance with the evaluation and emergency plans, the club will need to guarantee that 60,000 spectators, the number of seats that are expected to be opened first, will have safe passage to evacuate the stadium within minutes in case of an emergency.

For this reason, it must be fully ensured by the club that the third tier of the stadium and the parking facilities are not compromised in any way, shape, or form. The green light will only be given to Barcelona if they can guarantee the needs of said plan. However, it seems feasible as per MD, and Barcelona can indeed make it work if they remain on schedule.
