FC Barcelona had made only two additions to their squad ahead of this 2024-25 season, i.e., Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo. However, their financial situation caused them to face a lot of problems in registering this duo with La Liga, and they were able to do so only because of injuries suffered by some of their players.
In January, they will have to register them once again with the league authorities. But as they find it increasingly difficult to get the required salary space in their wage bill, they have already submitted a request in a court in Barcelona to enforce the relevant precautionary measures and be able to register these two players in January.
The Catalans believe that while the legal discrepancies surrounding their registrations are resolved, the court should allow these players to continue playing.
This same procedure was followed with Gavi, who continues to play under a precautionary ruling, as the relevant litigation has not yet been resolved. For now, a date has not yet been set for the hearing at which the case will be resolved.
In the meantime, the Blaugranes have initiated another legal process to allow these two players to play with immediate effect. For this case, a judge will summon the two involved parties, i.e., Barcelona and La Liga, to present their arguments.
La Liga believes Barcelona have not met the conditions that they had assured them of some months ago, Barcelona will meet the FFP requirements once they finalize the deal with Nike, which has not turned out to be the case.
According to MARCA, a ruling in this case is expected to take place on Friday, after which it will become clear whether Olmo and Víctor can be registered or not.
If the ruling does not come out in their favor, Barcelona will explore other options to meet this objective and ensure these two players continue to be available to Hansi Flick for the crucial month of January and beyond.
