FC Barcelona are at a point in the summer transfer window where they would have ideally expected to have been aware of their current squad as well as those who may be joining the side at any point during the transfer window.
However, the reality at Barcelona seems to be far away from this ideal scenario. One of their great assets in the form of French winger Ousmane Dembele seems to be on his way out of the club in an unexpected turn of events.
The player’s departure will understandably leave a significant sporting void that Barcelona will have to replace with an adequate alternative, and finding one for the French winger will indeed be a tall order
Yet, according to Catalunya Radio, Barcelona have already begun to visualize and plan for life after Dembele’s departure, with two particular additions to the side currently in their mind.
First and foremost, the operation involving Portuguese star Bernardo Silva of Manchester City will gain ‘momentum’ if the departure of Dembele to PSG does end up taking place.
A player of invaluable substance and quality at the moment, he remains one of the most sought-after players in world football and the interest of FC Barcelona in him has persisted over multiple seasons at this point.
The other position that FC Barcelona will turn towards in terms of recruitment will be the right-back position. This particular defensive slot is one that the Catalan club believes they are significantly understaffed in, considering that the two specialists that they currently have contracted for said position are both facing their respective hurdles.
According to recent reports that involve even the likes of Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona will primarily attempt to lure Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo to the Catalan club. If not, the secondary alternative that La Blaugrana continue to follow is Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda.
It appears that the closer Barcelona get to potentially selling off Ousmane Dembele to PSG, the hotter the rumors get regarding their potential alternative recruitments. It remains to be seen exactly who Barcelona ends up pursuing if the Frenchman does end up departing.
