A dark season has followed FC Barcelona during this campaign, and it has greatly harmed their objectives. At first, there were hopes that the Catalan giants would fight for silverware. However, as time has passed, Barcelona is left barely alive in just two remaining competitions.

Many dire moments of defeat have plagued the club this season, and turned down many heads. However, despite all the negativity both on the field and off it, there is something for Barcelona still worth cherishing. Interestingly, it just so happens to arrive in the form of a certain young defender.

While Lamine Yamal is already an established superstar at this point, he finds a partner of his who is equally capable on the other end of the field. Pau Cubarsi, aged just 17, has become the latest revelation for Barcelona this season. According to Mundo Deportivo, these performances will likely not go unrewarded by the club.

Barcelona will now look to ensure that while Cubarsi continues to excel, he also continues to do so with La Blaugrana. It has been heavily reported that teams like Chelsea and even possibly Manchester City have followed the development of the young defender since quite some time.

As a consequence of this, Barcelona need to ensure his continuity given how special his talents are. Whether or not Xavi Hernandez remains at the club, the Spanish coach did well to put his faith in Cubarsi and leave him in a position where Barcelona can do nothing but offer him a new contract.

Currently on a youth deal, Barcelona plan to change his contract into that of a proper first-team player. However, he will turn 18 only in January of 2025, and that is when he likely can sign a proper deal with the Barcelona first team.

Yet, as far as trust goes, Barça hope to extend their support and send a message of commitment to the player’s entourage. MD suggests that due to his youth contract still being in place, his release clause could be quite affordable as well for most teams.

However, Barcelona is not worried it seems, as they believe the player’s commitment is attached to the Catalan club. Moreover, the club itself wants the player to know that they are committed to him as well.
