FC Barcelona continue to gather intel and study the opportunities that they could have in the winter window. La Blaugrana already have one signing done and dusted, that of Brazilian striker Vitor Roque. However, Barcelona believe that a midfielder must also be incorporated.
Injuries to both Gavi and Pedri have limited the options in midfield for Barcelona. In fact, even players like Sergi Roberto are now in a place to have much more prominence. However, the pivot position remains a great vulnerability for the side under Xavi Hernandez.
For this reason, FC Barcelona are hunting for a possible pivot in the January window as well. As per the latest information from SPORT, the main option from within Spain seems to be Aleix Garcia. Currently a captain and defensive midfielder for Girona, the Spaniard has been an undeniably crucial part of his team this season.
However, his desires lies away from Girona. Speaking in an interview about his desire and goals for the future, he mentioned Barcelona as his greatest objective. This caused a lot of controversy amongst both the fans and staff of Girona. Yet, this also gave a strong signal to those within FC Barcelona.
As such, Barcelona are willing to negotiate a deal worth up to €20 million for Aleix Garcia. The 26-year-old has been great for Girona this season and Barça hopes he could potentially carry that over to the other club of Catalonia. However, the offer that Barcelona have in mind does not strictly involve cash only.
In fact, there are three players Barcelona are willing to cut ties with in order to finance Aleix Garcia’s transfer. Oriol Romeu, Pablo Torre, and Eric Garcia are all three of those names. By adding one of those players in the deal, Barcelona could reduce the amount that they would have to pay for the midfielder in totality.
