FC Barcelona are seemingly getting on with one of their summer transfer targets, as there has been a significant development in the negotiations to sign Brazilian Vitor Roque. The Brazilian club is open to selling the player this summer, and Barcelona are the only viable contender for his signature.
According to the latest reports from SPORT in this matter, the CEO of Atheltico Paranaense, Alexandre Mattos, is already in Barcelona for a meeting with the FC Barcelona higher-ups, with the possible transfer of Vitor Roque being on the agenda. The meeting is expected to take place in the next few hours.
The CEO of the Brazilian club will be in charge of the negotiations for the player, as the club President, Mario Celso Petraglia, is on medical leave. Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, is also accompanying the CEO in Barcelona, which shows that talks between the two parties are in a significantly advanced stage.
The player himself, though not present in Barcelona, has already done his part by prioritizing the Catalans and thus keeping Premier League sides, Arsenal and Chelsea away, from getting involved in the deal, which would have further increased the value of the player.
The to-be Director of Football at Barcelona, Deco, has been keeping a close eye on Vitor Roque’s development, and believes that the player will become a World Class striker in years to come. He is also leading the contacts and talks for the player.
In this face-to-face meeting between the two clubs for Roque, Barcelona are expected to explain their FFP constraints, and disclose how they need to undertake sales before embarking on an operation to sign new players.
The meeting will also see the Brazilian contingent name their price for the footballer, which is expected to be In the €45 million range.
This figure is higher than the €30 million + €5 million quoted earlier, but the new figure reflects the player’s performances in the South American U-20 tournament and with his club side, as he has already acclaimed 16 goals and 5 assists, and has become the best young striker currently in Brazil.
