Midfield is one of the areas that FC Barcelona want to strengthen in the coming months. The Catalans have not been able to properly replace Sergio Busquets in the squad, and now also have Gavi out with an ACL tear, and their midfield is spread rather thin.

As already reported, the Blaugranes are looking at several targets to reinforce their midfield, including the Brazilian, Andre. In addition to him, there is another midfielder whose entourage Barcelona have already contacted.

This midfielder in question is Amadou Onana, who has been performing brilliantly with Everton for an extended period of time. His value is currently more than €50 million, and Foot Mercato reports that Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in him.

Currently 22 years of age, Onana has been on an upward trajectory ever since his debut with the German second-division side, Hamburg. He continued to shine after joining LOSC Lille in Ligue 1, and has now also made a name for himself playing in the Premier League with Everton.

His performance for Everton against Burnley last Saturday showed just how well the player has been doing in England. He scored a goal in this match, completed 87% of his passes, 78% of his duels, and recovered the ball four times.

These performances have naturally attracted the attention of major European clubs, including FC Barcelona. The report mentions that a contact between the Catalan club and the player’s entourage has already taken place.

However, Xavi will have to wait till the summer to get the player, mainly because of his high valuation, but it might already be too late by then because other major clubs are also after the player.

Everton have been facing financial problems, and have been sent to the relegation zone after the deduction of ten points for not complying with the regulations of the league. Thus, it is highly likely that the player will be playing for another club in January or after the current season.
