Barcelona in hot pursuit of Portuguese midfielder amid lack of creativity in midfield

Barcelona have fallen short in creating substantial goal-scoring chances, especially after the injury of Pedri, and the Catalan club has been out in the market in search of a creative midfielder as a summer addition to their squad.

Reports from SPORT, however, state that the Catalan giants have their eyes set on Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva and are pushing to bring the 28-year-old to the Spotify Camp Nou in the summer of 2023.

This doesn’t come as a surprise as the Catalan giants were hot in pursuit of Bernardo Silva last summer but a move couldn’t materialize since the Blaugranes were tasked with getting a sumptuous bid for Frenkie De Jong in what could have raised the funds to bring the diminutive Portuguese midfielder to Spain.

Barcelona’s priority is to sign the Portuguese midfielder in the summer and thus is the player’s dream to line up for the Garnet and the Blue with the player already asking the Manchester club to leave, a move to Catalonia seems likely.

The only problem the Catalan outfit now face is raising money to sign the Portuguese star and with the club having gone on a crazy spending spree last summer, Cules would be keen to see if the club goes all out again for the Premier League star.

There is an urgent need to sign a creative midfielder to bolster the Blaugrana’s midfield and shift the pressure from Spanish starlet Pedri on having to do all the creative work in the middle alone. Hence the Camp Nou outfit could be forced to go all out for the midfielder.

Bernardo Silva, however, isn’t the only midfielder being eyed by Barcelona, his teammate, and German international Ilkay Gundogan is also on the Blaugrana’s radar and a free move to Spain is being eyed in the summer as well.

One thing remains for sure though, Manchester City are willing to let Bernardo leave in the summer as per his wish and Barcelona need to move fast to acquire the midfielder’s services.
