Amongst the rising talents of Brazil, Vitor Roque is a name that shines bright. The 17-year-old Brazilian forward has made a promising start to his top-level professional career at Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense.
His 7 goals and 3 assists with 36 appearances in the Brazilian top league with Athletico Paranaense, since arriving from Cruzeiro in April last year, have caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world.
FC Barcelona is one such club that is closely monitoring the rise of this young Brazilian. According to a recent report from Relevo, the Catalan club’s executives had a meeting with Deco today. Among the different topics discussed in this meeting, Vitor Roque was a prominent one, as the club wants to secure the young Brazilian’s signing, even at a significant cost.
The report further suggests that Barcelona will be willing to risk further punitive actions from La Liga to sign Vitor Roque, as their wage bill has little space to bring in any new player and are willing to pay up to €25 million.
Even more, problems await Barcelona in the quest for this Brazilian prodigy though. Reports from The Sun suggest that one of the Premier League’s top guns, Manchester United, are also interested in the player, and are in fact the most advanced in the race to sign him.
Further competition is provided by the likes of PSG, which can further complicate a transfer that is already difficult for Barcelona given the €60 million release clause of Vitor Roque, and the strained financial condition of the club.
