FC Barcelona continue to bet on their youth and proceed to scout talents from across the globe in the hopes of incorporating talents within their club that could potentially go on to aid them in the upcoming future. Their insistence on youth has produced far greater results than any other method of reinforcement.
The Catalan giants have often found some of the very best talents across both European football and that of South America. Taking into account the most recent update, Barcelona are reportedly scouting one of the most promising talents in South American football.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, FC Barcelona are closely monitoring the development of 16-year-old Argentinian pearl Alvaro Montoro, who continues to turn heads all the way over in Argentina, playing for Velez Sarsfield.
Labeled by many as the “new Iniesta” in his home country, the midfield talent stands out particularly well in the middle of the field where his technical prowess and understanding of the game have been key takeaways as his most potent strengths.
Having been on Barca’s radar for almost two years now, he has attracted particular interest from new Sporting Director Deco, who considers him a great talent who could help Barcelona in the future.
The Catalan club is studying if his incorporation is possible within the winter transfer window and if he could be directly integrated within the subsidiary or sent out on loan to another European side to get the much-needed experience he requires to make the transition from South American football to that of European football.
Despite interest from clubs like Sevilla, Villarreal, and even Italian outfit Fiorentina, the player has reportedly given priority to FC Barcelona and as a result, the talks between both parties have been initiated and are currently within their first steps.
It is speculated that developing under Xavi Hernandez has been a key decision-making aspect that the player and his entourage have considered when making the Catalan club their priority destination.
Interestingly however, Montoro’s father revealed in 2019 that the 16-year-old’s favorite player is Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo, but that he also “understands what Lionel Messi means in the world of football.”
