Barcelona interested in 18-year-old Mexican talent – report

While certain operations understandably take precedence for FC Barcelona, there is undeniable evidence that given both their sporting beliefs and their current economic predicament, the Catalans are simultaneously looking to incorporate new talented youngsters within their ranks to revitalize the team for the future.

The arrivals of both 19-year-old Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye and 16-year-old German prodigy Noah Darvich are examples of Barcelona choosing to actively pursue youngsters to bolster the first team in the future.

Furthermore, the Catalan club has been invested in heavy scouting for young talents throughout the summer in order to find the right fits for the club and then fight for their arrival against other top European clubs also after their signatures.

Most recently, as reported by the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, an 18-year-old Mexican winger, Heriberto Jurado, who plies his trade with Liga MX club Necaxa, has caught the eye of La Blaugrana.

While still just 18, the player has immense experience of top-flight football already. Having made 42 appearances for Necaxa since 2021, Jurado is gaining acclaim within Mexico as one of their greatest talents at the moment as per MD.

He was also included in The Guardian’s “Next Generation 2022”, which shortlisted 60 of the best young talents in world football according to the outlet. Interestingly, Brazilian talent and Barcelona-bound Vitor Roque also featured on the very same list.

However, Barcelona do face stiff competition from the likes of Portuguese sides FC Porto and Sporting CP for the signature of the young Mexican. The latter even managed to beat Barcelona to the signature of Ivan Fresneda, who Barcelona had considered a great investment in terms of a long-term fullback.
