In the upcoming summer transfer window, FC Barcelona are once again expected to take advantage of the contractual situation of some players to incorporate them into their team for free.
This is most clearly going to be the case with the German defender Jonathan Tah, with whom the Blaugrana Sporting Director Deco has already held a meeting and who has already made it public that he is not going to renew with Bayer Leverkusen.
However, is not the only defender whom the Catalans can sign for free next summer, as Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are one of the teams interested in signing the Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven, whose contract is also running out at the end of this season.
While the Azulgrana can land him for free, getting him will not really be easy as several other top clubs are also interested in him. This is particularly the case with the Premier League side Manchester United, while the Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt have also made inquiries about the defender.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also making efforts to convince Heaven to renew his contract, as they naturally do not want to lose such a promising defender to leave them for free.
A regular in English youth-level international teams, the Englishman also made his debut with the Gunners’ first team this season in the cup match against Preston North End, which his side won 3-0.
He has also been a prominent player in the UEFA Youth League, and Mikel Arteta has also called him up for three Premier League and one UEFA Champions League matches. However, he is yet to make his debut in either of these competitions.
For now, his future is full of uncertainty, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona will decide to bet on his arrival, or whether he will be playing at Arsenal or another European side for the coming season.
