Barcelona is looking for another Pedri

Barcelona midfielder Pedri

Pedri has taken up the burden of creating chances for Barcelona this season and has been performing this duty well enough. However, the squad needs another player on whom the team can rely when Pedri is missing, and this shortage of another creative force in the team is being felt even more severely since Pedri’s injury.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi has been asking for such a signing since the start of the season. He had asked the board to look for a player who can create chances and also have an eye for the goal. Xavi believes that having such a player in the squad will reduce the reliance of the team on Pedri.

From among the players that fit this profile, Bernardo Silva is perhaps the most realistic option for the club. He was already being considered by the club in the last transfer window, and his age and experience make him a highly attractive option for the club and Xavi. If signed, he can play both with Pedri and can replace him as well.

Ilkay Gundogan is another player that can fit this mold. While a little older than Silva, the German midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the season, which makes him especially attractive for the Catalan club.

Dani Parejo from Villareal is another option for the club, who is also liked by Xavi. FC Barcelona was linked with him two years ago, under Valverde, and now at 33 years of age, he is still standing out in his team because of his handling of the ball and dictating the offense of his team.
