The loss of Ousmane Dembele took its unique toll on FC Barcelona and particularly on the quality and depth of wingers that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez now has the ability to rely upon. With the Frenchman now a PSG player, Barcelona will continue to look at the market with a winger in mind.

However, for this ongoing 2023/2024 season, FC Barcelona seem to be putting their faith in the players already within the squad to deliver in place of their former teammate who now plays for PSG.

The likes of Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Abde, and even 16-year-old Lamine Yamal could have their opportunities to shine at Barcelona this season with the faith put in them by Xavi Hernandez.

Yet, it looks like Barcelona do not disregard that future opportunities could arise at some point ahead, and thus have already kept their eyes on a particular German winger according to a report coming from Germany itself.

As per a report from Bild’s Christian Falk, Tobi Altschaffl, and Nico Linner, FC Barcelona show interest in the prospect of potentially bringing in German winger Leroy Sane as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele at some point in the future given his abilities as a footballer could help the Catalan giants overcome the qualities they no longer possess due to Dembele’s departure.

However, for now, Sane seems to be content at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich under the guidance of coach Thomas Tuchel, but given that his contract will only have a year left before its expiry once 2024 arrives, Barcelona could look to return to a possible pursuit of the player.

Sane himself also remains open to possibilities and his future beyond his current contract is not decided as no renewal attempt or intent has been made just yet. It will be interesting to see if FC Barcelona and the German winger end up having any advances between them next summer should the Catalan giants still wish to pursue him.
