Barcelona legend faces off against young target – report

Away from the continent of Europe, a clash awaits the seasoned olds and potential news of FC Barcelona, and it could be quite the tantalizing affair. In the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, an old fabled number 9 of La Blaugrana is set to face off against the 18-year-old Barca hope replaces his legacy one day.

The Brazilian Serie A is the primary first-division league in Brazil and the next match in the 2022/2023 calendar for the league sees 7th-placed Athletico Paranaense take on 10th-placed Gremio.

As pointed out by Mundo Deportivo, Gremio is currently home to Uruguayan forward and FC Barcelona legend Luis Suarez, as the player just recently moved to the Brazilian side in January following his stint at Uruguayan club Nacional.

On the other hand, Athletico Paranaense is home to the 18-year-old Brazilian forward that FC Barcelona have chosen as the successor to both Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club. The youngster continues to turn heads and even at multiple points has had comparisons of him done with that of his potential predecessor Luis Suarez.

Both strikers head into this clash with relatively similar numbers in terms of goal contributions this season. The Uruguayan has played 534 minutes across 6 games in the Brazilian Serie A this season and managed to score 2 goals in that time period. Roque, on the other hand, has scored the exact same number of goals in 419 minutes spread across 7 games.

In the Copa De Brasil, Roque has 1 goal across three games with 270 minutes played, while Luis Suarez has 2 goals in 4 games with 344 minutes played.

Apart from these two competitions, both players have featured for their respective sides in other competitions as well. Luis Suarez also boasts 5 goals across 8 Campeonato Gaucho fixtures, and then in the semi finals and final of the competition he boasts 2 goals in 4 of the final games.

Vitor Roque, representing Athletico Paranaense, boasts 4 goals in 6 Campeonato Paranaense games, and a further 1 goal in the Copa Libertadores.

This incoming fixture between the two Brazilian sides could be a fun watch for those fans of FC Barcelona that wish to relive the memories of Luis Suarez while get to experience the potential of Vitor Roque first hand simultaneously.
