Clement Lenglet is one of the players currently owned by FC Barcelona but is not trusted a lot by the head coach, Xavi Hernandez. As a result, he spent the last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspurs, and is once again back in England, this time on loan at the Premier League side Aston Villa.

However, his season is not going exactly as planned, as the defender is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League under Unai Emery but has played all the possible minutes in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage matches so far.

Still, the experience of the French defender makes him a reliable option to have in the squad, and Bayern Munich have been lately associated with the 28-year-old defender, primarily after the knee injury suffered by Matthijs de Ligt.

With the lack of minutes in the Premier League, Lenglet is also open to changing clubs in the upcoming winter window. However, he will need the approval of Aston Villa and Barcelona before joining the German giants.

Moreover, Lenglet is not the only defender that Bayern have in their mind to mitigate the absence of De Ligt. 19-year-old Italian defender Giorgio Scalvini, who currently plays for Serie A side Atalanta, is another option that the Munich club is considering and could cost them around €30 million.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, there is one particular factor that can make Bayern put their bets on Lenglet, i.e., the endorsement of Harry Kane. The English international shared the dressing room with the Frenchman at Tottenham last year and speaks highly of his quality and professionalism.

FC Barcelona are looking forward to Bayern making a move for the defender, as it is understood that the Bavarians are not looking for a loan but for a full transfer. The defender still has a contract till 2026 with Barcelona, and the Catalans value him at around €10 million.
