Due to the astronomical salaries that were offered to some players by the last FC Barcelona administration, the Catalan club found it very difficult to move on players who were not needed in the team any longer.
One such player whom the Catalans have found very difficult to move on is the French centre-back, Clement Lenglet.
The defender spent the last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspurs and is on another loan at Aston Villa this season, but the Blaugranes want to permanently offload the Frenchman, and this was one of their primary objectives in the last summer transfer window.
In this regard, Barcelona could have found a potential suitor for their out-of-favor defender, as the journalist Tobi Altschaffl (h/t Barcacentre) reports that Lenglet can be an option for the German giants, Bayern Munich.
The journalist goes on to report that the defender is currently valued at around €10 million, and thus can be a realistic option for the Bavarians.
While Lenglet would be a good, cheap option for the German club, who would bring a lot of top-flight experience to the team, it is clear that the French defender is not in the best form of his career right now.
Unai Emery has not played Lenglet even for a single minute in the Premier League this season, and the only appearances that the center-back has for Aston Villa have all come in the UEFA Conference League. In the third-tier European competition, the defender has played the full ninety minutes in all five games up to now.
However, Lenglet is still only 28 years old, and with the experience he has gathered, he can still turn around his form to become a valuable defender for another club in the future. Bayern Munich might just be that club, but it remains to be seen how this transfer move develops in the future.
