Barcelona has sent several players on loan with the hopes of positive developments. While players like Clement Lenglet have been sent out for economic reasons, others have been loaned out for sporting ones.

Across La Liga and even into other European leagues, the players from Barça are making their mark across the footballing world.

Loanees in Catalonia

One team in particular that now boasts more than one Barcelona loanee at the moment is Girona. Young midfield talent Pablo Torre and aspiring defender Eric Garcia are both currently plying their trade there.

While Torre continues to struggle for minutes, Eric Garcia is having the best spell of his career. Having played 5 games already for Girona, Eric Garcia is having all the minutes he could want.

Undisputed for Michel, the Spanish center-back has helped the Catalan team be as formidable as they are this season. Currently sitting in second, Girona continues to battle it out with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Desire to return

However, regardless of the great form he is enjoying, Garcia is clear about his future. As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, the player only thinks about returning home to Barça. Contracted to Barcelona until 2026, he had the following to say:

“I came here for a year. I have a contract with Barça, and I will return there. Whatever happens, we’ll see. Whatever has to come, will come.”

Unexpected decision

Originally not expected to leave on loan during the summer, the player explained how it came to be. A sudden decision, but one motivated by the need to improve and get more minutes. Given Barcelona’s new recruits, he understood it would be likely that he would get even fewer chances than before:

“It’s very easy. Until Thursday, I wasn’t going to leave, and on Friday, things changed. There was an idea during that week. I talked to the coach, decided to stay, and on Friday, I left. It’s normal.”

Garcia, alongside Pablo Torre, is set to return in June of 2024 to FC Barcelona. They will be joined by other players on loan such as Sergino Dest, Alex Valle, Estanis Pedrola, Ansu Fati, and a few others.
