Sergino Dest is one of the players owned by FC Barcelona but is playing this season on loan, having joined the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the final days of the last summer transfer window.

After struggling for form during the last two years, first at Barcelona and then on loan at AC Milan, the USA international is now getting closer to the form that he showed with Ajax, which made the Catalans shell out €21 million for him in 2020.

Despite not playing much during the last two seasons, Dest has been one of the starters for Peter Bosz’s side, claiming his spot in the team with high-quality performances.

As Mundo Deportivo has noted, the fullback is continuing with his good form, something he showed particularly with his performance in the last Eredivisie match against AZ Alkmaar.

PSV won that match 4-0, and one of the goals was scored by Dest himself. This goal was the first for the USA fullback in a PSV shirt.

Dest remained with the Barcelona squad for much of the pre-season last summer, but after it became that Xavi would not be relying on him, he was sent on loan to PSV.

The Dutch side kept an option to buy him for €10 million at the end of the season, and this option now seems to be becoming a good opportunity for the Dutch side.

However, Dest can return to Barcelona before the end of the season, as Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven can face each other in the Champions League Round of 16. Being the undisputed starter at left-back for his team, Dest helped his side qualify for the knock-out rounds of the competition.

In this last match against Alkmaar, another former Barcelona player, Luuk de Jong, also shone on the pitch. He scored two of the goals and assisted another one to help his team end the year with a good win.
