The financial crisis at FC Barcelona is not solely attributed to expensive transfers. While the Blaugranes have made significant investments in star players with massive transfer fees, the outcomes of these acquisitions often fell short of expectations. However, these high-profile transfers were not the sole contributors to the economic challenges faced by FC Barcelona.

Another crucial concern revolves around the exorbitant wages negotiated with several players in the team. Many of the team’s superstars have lucrative salaries specified in their contracts, posing an unsustainable long-term financial challenge for Barcelona.

One such player with a massive salary agreed is French central defender Clement Lenglet. A contracted player for FC Barcelona, he is currently on loan at Premier League side Aston Villa. Yet, a lack of prominence in England had made his future look uncertain. However, he now seems to have an answer.

As per SPORT, the Barcelona loanee has already agreed a new loan deal with Italian giants AC Milan. According to the report, the club from Milan would be more than willing to take away the 28-year-old defender on a half-season loan.

Moreover, Barcelona are also on board with this agreement as it is speculated to involve an obligatory purchase clause. In the scenario that Lenglet manages to play or start a certain amount of games for Milan, they would be obligated to buy him.

However, the only thing that the player is now waiting on is Aston Villa’s confirmation. The English club would have to terminate their loan deal with the Frenchman so that he could take his services elsewhere.

For FC Barcelona, despite the obligatory amount not being too excessive, this deal would be a relief. Given their current economic problems, the last thing that they need is to handle all of Lenglet’s expenses as well.

Consequently, the Blaugranes are more than willing to part ways with the defender. They also tried to permanently sell him off to Spurs in the summer without much luck.

Ultimately, an agreement with Spurs could not be reached due to differences in valuation. Another option previously present was Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. In this case, the economic demands were met, but the defender himself was opposed to leaving Europe just yet.
