Barcelona loanee has four months to showcase his improvements

In terms of departures, one of the moves that generated the most attention at FC Barcelona last summer was the loan of Ansu Fati to the Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

After a somewhat slow start to life in England, the winger was starting to show his talent in the most difficult of leagues when his rhythm was broken by another unlucky muscle injury.

The youngster had struggled with injuries throughout his time at Barcelona, and this latest injury brought the worst concerns about his future.

However, as SPORT has noted, the Spaniard was able to return to the pitch for Brighton last night, after spending two months on the sidelines. Now, with four months remaining in his loan in England, Ansu will have to show Barcelona that he has finally overcome his physical problems, as the Catalan club has no doubts about his talent.

The player himself wants to return to Barcelona, but while the club has its doors open for him, a permanent sale is also not ruled out. The club will continue monitoring his progress to make a final decision about his future.

Jorge Mendes knows that Fati’s first preference is Barcelona, but the winger also wants a starting and important role in the team. Xavi was unwilling to promise him such a thing, but a new coach might be able to count on him.

However, it is clear that Lamine Yamal will be the club’s priority going forward, and another left winger is also expected to be incorporated, especially if Raphinha leaves in the summer. If Joao Felix remains at Barcelona for the next season, there will be no spots left for Fati and Barcelona will be happy to let Fati leave permanently if an offer of around €30 comes for him.

However, for such a thing to happen, the Spanish winger will have to showcase that he has gotten over his physical problems, and his value will also increase if he can make the Spain squad and shine in the UEFA EURO 2024.
