The talent development never stops at FC Barcelona, and in addition to the large contingent of players in the club’s first team, players graduating from La Masia are also playing in different clubs throughout Europe.
One player who left the Catalans to join another European club was Estanis Pedrola, who took a step forward by leaving his comfort zone at Barcelona Atletic after two good seasons and joining the historical Italian side Sampdoria.
Pedrola emerging as a leader in Italy
According to SPORT, the 20-year-old Pedrola is already emerging as one of the leaders at his new club. His emergence at the Italian club is remarkable, as he has already scored three goals in his first nine games at the club, and is already becoming a favourite of the fans at the Luigi Ferraris.
Sampdoria made a risky bet on the youngster as they convinced him with the project currently underway at the club, which aims to bring it back to the Serie A. The Juventus and Milan legend, Andrea Pirlo, is currently leading this project, and Pedrola can learn a lot from the Italian master.
Barcelona retain some control on the player
For now, Sampdoria is having a hard time getting started in the league. Estanis, currently on loan at Sampdoria, has already played nine matches, but playing the tenth match will automatically make him an asset of the Italian side in return for €3 million.
The purchase option does not depend on the team’s promotion to Serie A. However, his tenth appearance will have to wait a few weeks, as the player is currently out with an injury.
Even if Sampdoria decide to purchase him, Barcelona will retain a buyback clause for €7 million till 2025, as well as 50% of his rights in case he is sold. Keeping in view the performances he has been giving, adding these clauses to Pedrola’s contract is definitely a wise piece of business from FC Barcelona.
