Alex Collado’s loan to Elche was supposed to end in June 2023, but the lack of minutes at the club can result in the early termination of the contract between the two parties.
According to recent reports from Mundo Deportivo, the youngster is unhappy with the amount of minutes he has got at Elche in the first half year of his loan spell and might consider one of the offers that he has got on the table from Italian and Greek clubs.
Before moving to Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, Collado had renewed his contract with FC Barcelona, which now runs up to 30th June 2024. The loan agreement saw a splitting of Collado’s wages between Elche and FC Barcelona, no purchase option for Elche, and a 20% payment of any future transfer fee for the player to Elche.
Currently, the on-loan player has featured in 8 La Liga games and has amassed only a total of 541 minutes. Another factor influencing him towards a move away from Elche is the poor form and the current league position of the club.
Elche is currently sitting at the bottom of the league table, with a meager 4 points, while the 17th-placed Celta Vigo has 12 points. This makes relegation a very possible prospect for Elche at the end of the season.
The bench is also plagued with instability, as Pablo Machin is the third coach for the Elche side this season, following Francisco and Jorge Almirón. This rapid change in management means uncertainty for Collado’s future role in the Elche squad.
