Barcelona have multiple products of theirs on loan or transferred out of the club over recent times. The likes of Illaix Moriba and Riqui Puig come to mind, and as of right now, Abde and Nico Gonzalez are two players out on loan to Osasuna and Valencia respectively.
Yet, there is room for only a handful that prove themselves to be of a high enough caliber to remain at FC Barcelona. The case of Nico Gonzalez is one that arguably excites both fans and the sporting department of the club, as he remains a midfielder that Xavi Hernandez reportedly appreciates and likes.
The youngster himself requested to be loaned out knowing full well that the competition for the spots in midfield at Barcelona this season would be tough and game time would be exceptionally limited.
The Spaniard remains a product of La Masia that Barcelona believe could be a useful and strategic asset to have under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez and provide a new sense of dynamism and complexity to the current midfield at the club’s disposal.
A unique blend of physicality and technicality, the player is mature and dependable should the need arise, and will arguably be the kind of player Xavi may call upon to even act as a difference maker in front of opposition goals.
Being shipped off to Valencia, the player has enjoyed quite the highs and the lows during his time there this season. Unfortunately, he was also met with a toe injury that had kept him sidelined for a while, and it is only recently that he has recovered from said injury.
His evolution at the club following his return will be dictated according to how he finishes off this season within the remaining time he has left with Valencia as well as how Xavi chooses to test him in the upcoming pre-season prior to the beginning of the 2023/2024 footballing season.
