FC Barcelona are always looking out for sustainable ways to generate revenue. The Catalan club, after years of financial mismanagement, are finally looking to reverse the negative consequences. For that to happen, however, Barcelona need certain things to go the way the club wants them to.

One such way would be to make player sales, and possibly significant ones. Unfortunately, the players that the club wants to offload either do not have a significant transfer value or simply do not wish to leave right now. Despite reports of new offers coming in, no major developments end up taking place.

The case of Clement Lenglet, for instance, is one that has frustrated Barcelona for quite some time. With the Frenchman no longer wanted at the Catalan club, his departure was something to be expected. Unfortunately for La Blaugrana, no permanent exit ended up taking place.

Instead, the 29-year-old French defender ended up being sent to Atletico Madrid on a loan deal. Initially, this move seemed to have been the wrong one, but a certain development has now increased the player’s prominence within Diego Simeone’s team and it could prove to be beneficial for Barcelona.

As highlighted by SPORT, Lenglet’s resurgence and improved performances for Atletico Madrid this season will undoubtedly lead to a boost in his valuation. After having seen said value decline in recent years, the Frenchman could finally turn things around and that would consequently end up benefiting Barcelona.

Previously, Lenglet saw his value topple down from a €60 million valuation all the way to a €5 million valuation. This sharp decline was significant, but he could finally turn things around for both himself and his parent club.

Through his in-form displays this season, Lenglet’s value continues to rise and new suitors are expected to pop up. That, in turn, would allow Barcelona to simply sell to the highest bidder and possibly look to make some level of profit over the initial €35 million they spent to secure his services.

Even Atletico Madrid, after losing Robin Le Normand to injury this season, have seen the quality that Lenglet brings to their team. His performances have undoubtedly improved, as both his ball-playing and quality as a defender are now on a much higher level than before.

Moreover, due to the limited supply of quality left-footed centre-backs in the market, Lenglet could soon be in high demand. Yet, while Atletico Madrid do not have a purchase option attached to the loan deal, the Madrid-based club could potentially also end up bidding themselves for the player once the summer of 2025 arrives.
