Almost week in and week out, speculation around the players of Barcelona remains constant. No matter who performs or who does not, the media likes to make scenarios that could lead certain players away from the club. It may seem irregular, but given the massive repute of Barcelona, these rumors share patterns.

One name who regularly finds himself involved in such rumors, especially in recent times, is Andreas Christensen. Despite being a diligent servant to Barcelona, and a favorite in the locker room due to his gentle and positive nature, media outlets often question his future at the club.

However, even as he struggles with discomfort in his Achilles tendon, Christensen does not back out. As highlighted by SPORT, the Dane has ensured that he is there for Barcelona even when the ideal medical suggestion would point towards rest and time away from the field to recover properly.

Against PSG, his availability proved to be key for Barcelona as well. Soon after coming onto the field, he scored with a header to give Barça their third goal and the conclusive one to ensure their victory.

While he may be suspended for the second leg due to an accumulation of yellow cards, Christensen’s struggles to gain prominence in Barcelona again remain constant.

Having been outcasted previously as a surplus defender, Xavi found an alternative solution for him. While he could not move Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo as Xavi’s ideal defenders, he managed to find his purpose as the primary pivot of Barcelona and put his defensive and technical expertise to good use in the midfield.

His performances, not as flashy as those of his teammates, remain consistent and his attitude remains completely professional. As he continues to discreetly find purpose again, the Danish defender has found good use of his abilities once more and acknowledges that his own future lies in Barcelona and nowhere else.
