There are certain things at FC Barcelona that have to be addressed no matter the sacrifice. Already ridden with financial debt and restricted with spending limits, the Catalan giants are not at the proudest moment of their history given the many hurdles they are having to overcome.
As the recent summer transfer window showcased, signings have become increasingly more costly for Barcelona in the sense of the various sacrifices the club has to make. From additional levers to reduced salaries, Barcelona have had to take some dire actions to remain afloat.
However, such measures are not at all sustainable. For Barcelona, funds have to be generated and there is an urgent need for them. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the most viable way at the moment to do so would be to sell a player for a significant amount of money in exchange.
Names like Ansu Fati immediately come to mind. The player could bag a decent transfer fee given his potential and quality, but to do so, he must first perform well at Brighton, something he is currently unable to do at a sustained level.
Another possibility is to sell off Eric Garcia, who is currently out on loan at Girona. His departure would not be costly to Barcelona and would generate all profits looking at the bigger picture given that he arrived as a free transfer from Manchester City.
Moreover, Barcelona already possess a fair share of dependable central defenders that are all currently seen as better alternatives to the starting positions over Garcia. As such, the Spaniard would be a good asset for Barcelona to look towards to profit from.
On the other hand, while there are a great many players that remain important for Barca, Sporting Director Deco will still be open to hear offers for them. In the scenario that an irrefutable offer ends up arriving, it will be interesting to see if any player at all is truly an ‘untouchable’ at Barcelona.
