Among the many challenges that Barcelona are working on overcoming, the rather frustrating performances of Polish forward Robert Lewandowski have been a particular source of discontent among fans of the Blaugranes and perhaps even the coaching staff given his lackluster displays in recent outings.
Statistically, it has also been the first season in a long time where Lewandowski has not been able to score in the first two league games of a season. However, despite these shortcomings, there seems to be a rather strong belief in his teammates regarding his ability to bounce back.
As per information provided by Spanish journalist Alex Pintanel (h/t Barca Times), the dressing room of FC Barcelona maintains their faith in their Polish top scorer of last season and have complete belief in the fact that he will find his scoring boots once again and showcase his best version possible soon enough.
Moreover, the journalist claims that his starting position within the Barcelona starting eleven remains undisputed and he is set to start against Villarreal today as well. The Pole has an opportunity to turn his rather unfortunate tides around and get back to his goal-scoring best that he displayed last season at Barcelona and has done so for nearly a decade in Germany.
His form has been rather disrupted since January of this year, since he was unable to imitate his immense goal-scoring rate from the first half of the 2022/2023 season. However, various reasons such as fatigue or even age could apply to the 35-year-old’s decline.
Yet, his quality is proven and so is his experience and pedigree. The number nine for Barcelona still has a role to play this season and it is hoped that he soon finds his best form in order to best fulfill said role under Xavi Hernandez.
