With almost no trophies left to compete for this season, FC Barcelona can now focus their attention on the upcoming summer transfer window to make the required additions to their squad.

In this window, the main priority of the Catalans will be to sign a midfield pivot, as this is a position that the club wants to reinforce in particular, especially as Oriol Romeu has not adapted too well to Xavi’s methods and Andreas Christensen in not a natural midfielder.

However, in addition to a midfielder, the Blaugranes will also be looking for a forward, and have been linked with several players for this position in the last few months.

The Spaniard Dani Olmo is one such player, whose past with FC Barcelona makes him a particularly alluring target for the club. The Catalans have been closely linked with him for some months now, and according to journalist Alex Pintanel, have already contacted the winger’s agents.

However, there is a €60 million release clause in the forward’s contract, and RB Leipzig are not willing to negotiate to lower this price tag.

This is a sum that Barcelona simply cannot afford to pay for a single player at this point in time, and it looks highly unlikely that they will be able to land the forward this summer. In fact, a recent report claimed that the Blaugranes themselves do not believe they have the required funds to acquire the winger.

Still, it is easy to understand why Barcelona are so keenly interested in the Spain international. He has been a key player for Leipzig for some years now, and this season he has scored 4 goals and given 5 assists in 20 appearances for the German side. He has another goal in 3 Champions League appearances this season and has also been impressive for his national side.
