It would be unwise for FC Barcelona to let this summer window go by without making key signings. The Catalan club has their limitations and that is a guarantee, but what they choose to do moving forward is up to them. For Barcelona to be able to sign new players, they must be willing to make sacrifices.

Unfortunately, time seems to wait for no man or for clubs like FC Barcelona. While they may have their favorites in terms of who they would like to bring to the club in order to reinforce some problematic positions, it is true that other clubs will look to pounce on said targets as well.

FC Barcelona have been heavily linked to Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, but even his signature may now end up going somewhere else. According to the latest information provided by SPORT, French champions Paris Saint-Germain are now interested in the Belgian midfielder.

PSG are hoping to first finalize a sale of their own as they look to sell Ugarte to Manchester United this summer. After that, the French club will turn their attention towards Onana and hope to get to Everton before Barcelona can make them agree. Moreover, given the financial power that PSG possess, it would not be problematic for them to afford the player’s transfer.

For Barcelona, on the other hand, that signing would be difficult right now. Everton are looking for €60 million, while Barcelona were reportedly only able to offer up to €40 million to recruit him. Until and unless Barça are able to return to the 1:1 rule soon, it will be next to impossible to get Onana to sign for them.

Even apart from the Belgian midfielder, Barcelona do have some other targets. Both Mikel Merino and Joshua Kimmich are still in their sights, but the Catalan club faces unique issues with either of them. For now, the priority lies in Barcelona making a swift return to normality, no matter the routes they have to take.
