The last summer transfer window saw Ansu Fati leave FC Barcelona on loan for the Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion. The 20-year-old winger grew and developed at Barcelona and, at one time, was considered to be the heir of Lionel Messi at the club.

However, luck was not on his side as he saw his career get derailed by injuries in its early phases, and when he recovered from these injuries, he was unable to regain the form that he had shown in his early years.

As a result, Barcelona wanted him to play in a changed atmosphere and get back to his best at a club where the pressure is not as great as it is at Barcelona.

Gavi watches Manchester City and Brighton

Thus, he joined Brighton, but the player was extremely reluctant to leave. Even now, he wants to succeed only at Barcelona and will be looking to show what he has got at Brighton before coming back to Catalunya and getting an important role in the Barcelona squad.

Furthermore, he is not the only one who believes that he can succeed at Barcelona, as SPORT reports that one of his former teammates, Gavi, also believes that Fati will return to Barcelona after having a successful stint at Brighton.

In a recent interview, he talked about his passion for football and shared that he regularly watches the Premier League, especially Manchester City and Brighton:

“I’m a football geek; I watch many matches with friends at home, especially from the Premier League. I like some teams more than others. I follow Manchester City, and especially Brighton now because they play well, and also because Ansu Fati is there.”

Gavi believes Fati will return to Barcelona

Further commenting on his former teammate, Gavi disclosed that he misses him at Barcelona but is convinced he will be playing with Fati soon:

“I see Ansu in good spirits. I am confident he will regain his confidence, and hopefully, he’ll come back to us. We have been friends since we met at La Masia, and I always want the best for him.”

Fati’s return to Barcelona would not be easy, however. As already reported here, Barcelona are already looking to sell Fati in the next summer transfer window as the Catalans would need funds to undertake incoming operations. However, Fati is committed to returning, and it remains to be seen how his future with the Catalan club pans out.
