Several Barcelona players are representing Spain, and one of these players, Gavi, helped his team qualify for the UEFA EURO 2024, as he scored the lone goal against Norway, which gave the Spaniards the victory and cleared their passage to the tournament.
Gavi happy with the match
Playing such an important role in the match, Gavi was one of the players who spoke to the media after the match. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Gavi took this opportunity to talk about his emotions on Spain’s qualification, the match against Norway, and his own goal.
As already mentioned, Spain has now qualified for the UEFA EURO 2024, and Gavi expressed his happiness about this fact: “I am very happy with the result. We have played very well, and our hard work has paid off.”
VAR review for Gavi’s goal
Gavi also recognized the importance of this match, after confessing that getting a victory against Norway in their country is a difficult feat: “We knew that Norway was a tough team in their stadium”
The Barcelona midfielder was the scorer of the goal, which paved Spain’s way to the European tournament, but the VAR needed around five minutes to ensure that this goal was a valid one. Gavi also reflected on his goal and the VAR screening that it needed: “I think it was due to Morata’s action; I’m not sure if he was offside.”
However, the goal stood in the end and proved to be a highly crucial one as it helped Spain win the match and get into the actual tournament. Now Gavi will return to Barcelona and will be looking to help the Catalans in the difficult stretch of matches coming up right after the international break.
