FC Barcelona are looking for a number of sales this summer transfer window in order to ensure that they remain within the confines of La Liga’s FFP and successfully get their new signings registered. However, the club is facing problems with convincing some of its players to leave the club.
Previously, it was reported that Franck Kessie has been convinced to leave the club after talks with Barcelona head coach, Xavi. The reports mentioned that Xavi had disclosed the abysmal financial situation of the club to the player, and communicated the importance of him leaving the club, to which the player had reluctantly agreed.
However, Fabrizio Romano now reports that the player’s agent has publicly declared any such reports as fake news and that the player’s previous position that he wants to succeed at the club still holds.
FC Barcelona have their feasibility plan approved by La Liga, but they are still subject to a 40% rule, under which they can spend only 40% of any income on new player arrivals.
The club executives are considering a sale of the Ivorian, who joined the club only last summer, in order to shed some weight off their wage bill and get a quick profit on him, as the player came as a free agent.
The reports published earlier today would have provided optimism to the fans that the player would be leaving, making room for Barcelona to get its other targets, including Messi. However, the latest reports have denied any such rumors, and the club would still have to persuade Kessie to move away this season, or look at other possible sales to advance their other ongoing operations.
