FC Barcelona are set to face Real Betis in their upcoming La Liga game this weekend. This game will have some extra significance for some of the people associated with both clubs.
For instance, Ez Abde moved to Real Betis this summer and can make his debut for the Verdiblancos against his former side, Barcelona. However, the player has already downplayed any extra importance for this game as he recently described the upcoming clash as “just another game”.
Barcelona monitoring Betis midfielder
Another player who will have some eyes focused on him during this game is the Real Betis player, Rodri Sanchez. SPORT reports that the Catalan club’s sporting department, headed by Deco, is focused on the Betis attacking midfielder, who also frequently plays on the left wing and has a good left foot.
Sanchez is still only 23 years old and has also previously been associated with Barcelona as he trained at La Masia for a brief period. Sanchez joined Barcelona in 2014 from Espanyol.
Resemblance with Messi
The player also describes his play style as matching that of a Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi. However, the player himself has named another few stars with whom he relates more readily in his style of play:
“Because of my playing style, I’ve always identified with Özil. Fekir and Canales are two other incredible, magnificent left-footed players.”
Sanchez has played in all four La Liga games this season but has started only one of these four. His current contract with Betis runs till 2026, so Barcelona will have to negotiate with Betis if they decide to go in for him next summer.
