Incorporating new stars at FC Barcelona has always been a goal for the Catalan club. Having been home to some of the biggest names in football over the years, the club hopes to continue that trend. The summer transfer window is still far away, but speculations have already been ignited.
One of the most prominent names in terms of future investments for Barcelona has been that of Vitor Roque. The Brazilian sensation is set to join Barça either in January or the summer of 2024. However, there is another name on the table.
Release clause of opportunity
According to various reports, Julian Alvarez is a name that could be looked at. As per SPORT, the Argentinian forward has a €50 million release clause intact with Manchester City. This value is a cost much lower than what Barça would normally have to pay for him after negotiations.
Cautious Catalans
However, SPORT does clarify that FC Barcelona is hoping to switch up their planning. The striker position is one where Barcelona needs to urgently start looking at future incomings. Current Barça ace Robert Lewandowski is already 35 years old. Despite his great physical fitness, it is unlikely that Barcelona will be able to count on him for much longer.
As such, new introductions have to be made. Vitor Roque is a great signing, but haphazard arrivals are not ideal for Barça. Already having had to replace Sergio Busquets with a last-minute arrival, Barcelona wants to avoid that occurrence again at all costs.
Improved planning
Planning for ‘generational changes’ will have to be much more precise. The stars of tomorrow have to be scouted and analyzed today. Other top clubs have their future planning sorted out in time. For Barcelona, this is even more essential given that they cannot afford to spend their money unwisely.
Negotiating at the last minute for top stars can often prove to be troublesome. As a result, whether it be new signings or incorporating youth players into the first team, it has to be some with a clear image of the future in mind. Barcelona hopes to compete with Europe’s finest again, but that begins off the pitch before it does on it.
