Barcelona have made their way outside of Spain and have reached Saudi Arabia. The Catalan giants have arrived with only one goal, and that is to win the Spanish Super Cup. Presented as the first major title up for grabs, Barcelona will hope to take full advantage of this opportunity.

The competition by itself offers both a prestigious title and some solid financial benefits. La Blaugrana intend to go into this contest with a fresh mindset, and hope that it can help ignite a spark within the team that can be carried forward into the rest of the season.

However, that is not the only thing that can be carried forward. According to AS, in fact, the damage sustained in the Spanish Super Cup will translate into the other Spanish competitions as well. This means that the suspensions and bookings that are given out during the competition will also travel towards both La Liga and the Copa Del Ray.

This will likely come as bit of a shock to those that consider this competition as a separate entry all together in the season, but the information is undoubtedly important. With it, Xavi can address his players and explain to them the seriousness and cautiousness the team must play with.

Both La Liga and the Copa Del Ray are still far from over. For this reason, La Blaugrana will want to be careful with the decisions that they make in Saudi Arabia. Any unwanted fouls and bookings will not just cause them inconvenience within the ongoing competition, but could also negatively impact their chances in the other ongoing campaigns.

Certain players, particularly their defenders, are the ones who will need to be most careful. With an extended injury list already proving to be problematic for the Catalan giants, any more absentees could prove to be even more dangerous.

For Xavi, consequently, this tournament should be treated the same as their other domestic objectives. Last time around, it helped the team get into a groove and form that remained unmatched for the rest of the season. This time around, it is hoped that a similar impact can be provided.
