Barcelona are yet to return to the 1:1 rule this summer and need to make departures happen to register the likes of Dani Olmo this summer. The club has been accelerating its plans with respect to outgoings.
Ilkay Gundogan is on the verge of joining Manchester City on a free transfer while Vitor Roque is closing in on a simple loan deal to Real Betis. If they also manage to find a club for Clement Lenglet, it will give them some salary space to work with.
One more player who is on the chopping blocks for Barcelona is Mikayil Faye. As per SPORT, the 20-year-old defender has interest from the likes of Ligue 1 clubs LOSC Lille and Rennes after previously courting interest from FC Porto.
Barcelona are asking for €15m to sell the talented African defender this summer but the report reveals that the Catalan club might have to lower their demands. Rennes are not willing to pay the aforementioned amount but have offered somewhere around €10m.
Lille are not willing to meet Barcelona’s asking price either. However, a deal could be worked out if Deco & co. are willing to accept the €10m bid along with a few bonuses. It’s up to the Spanish club to lower their demands now.
One thing that Barcelona are likely to ask for is a future purchase clause considering the obvious potential that the 20-year-old possesses. However, the current squad has an overbooking of centre-backs making Faye’s progress to the first team unlikely.
At this stage of his career, Faye needs regular game time which he will get should he move to a different club. The next few days will reveal what the future holds for the talented centre-back and let’s see how his career pans out from here on.
