One of the big arrivals at FC Barcelona this summer, Joao Felix, made his starting debut for Barcelona in last night’s match against Real Betis. Despite having a wealth of attacking options, Xavi decided to go into this game with Felix as a starter.

The Portuguese forward did not disappoint Xavi in any way. He won the MVP award for this match and also scored his first goal in a Barcelona shirt in front of the home fans at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

First start, team chemistry, his goal

As Mundo Deportivo reports, Felix was one of the players who spoke to the media after the game. On starting his first match for Barcelona, he said:

“I’m very happy to play as a starter again. I had very good feelings; I knew it’s easy to play with this team, but I had very good sensations.”

The loanee went on to highlight the main ingredient that helped Barcelona get such a good result against a strong Real Betis side:

“Above all, we played very well, and everyone was in the right place. That’s how we created spaces and scored the goals.”

The goal Felix scored for Barcelona was not the most beautiful, but it did open his scoring account at the Blaugrana club. Regarding this goal, Felix opined:

“If it wasn’t a control, I shot, and the defender blocked it. It was a missed shot.”

Felix also praised Lewandowski and explained the sequence where he let Lewandowski have the glory by scoring his goal:

“I see it, and I let it pass. It’s important for him to score; he’s a forward, and he lives for that. The more goals he scores, the better it is for us.”

Adaptation at Barcelona

The Portuguese was full of confidence in his ability to retain the level and form shown against Betis throughout the season at Barcelona:

“I’m working to be at my best level. There’s a great atmosphere here, and I’m just one more to help. With these players, everything is easier.”

Lastly, he also commented on his adaptation at Barcelona, as he has arrived at the Catalan capital only a few days back:

“The change has been good for me; I’m very happy here and hope to help the team as much as I can.”

With his performance against Betis, Barcelona would be satisfied with the investment that they made in Felix over the summer. Hopefully, the Portuguese international can keep up this good form and help Barcelona reach their objectives for the season.
