FC Barcelona are going to incorporate Vitor Roque into their ranks in January, after having already signed him in the last summer transfer window. However, Roque is not the only Brazilian being associated with Barcelona.
Another Brazilian who has been linked with Barcelona in the last few weeks is the Fluminense midfielder, Andre, or as his full name goes, André Trindade da Costa Neto.
The 22-year-old was unable to win the Club World Cup as his side fell to Manchester City with a 4-0 scoreline but was still impressive. He stood out particularly with his passing ability as he had only two misplaced passes in the entire match.
Andre played that match in his natural position of a midfield pivot, which is also a position that Barcelona are looking to strengthen in January or in the summer.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Andre is currently not a priority for Barcelona. Still, he is looked upon favorably, mainly because of his quality and strength.
Thus, if Barcelona are unable to land their primary targets for the pivot position, Andre can get up higher on the club’s priority list. Right now, nothing is certain on how Deco will advance in the market, but his contacts in Brazil, and especially with Fluminense can go in favor of Andre.
Although Andre is still playing in Brazil, and is not even a priority target for the Catalans, he has already endeared himself to Cules to some extent with his recent comments when he clearly chose Barcelona over Real Madrid as the club he would prefer if given a choice to join one of them:
“I haven’t received anything. I leave that outside the field and handle it with my agents. Day-to-day, I focus on Fluminense. Barcelona and Real Madrid are great clubs, but I think I would choose Barcelona.”
