While FC Barcelona have won three of their first four matches, the start of the season has not entirely been easy for the Catalans. They have already lost two important players to injury, while Christensen has also not been 100% fit yet.
The two players who are integral parts of Xavi’s setup, but are currently out with injuries are Pedri and Ronald Araujo. The timelines for their returns from injury have already been given, but Mundo Deportivo reports that the club would not take any risks with them and thus will not work to hasten their returns.
Araujo will be available for Celta match
Of the two, Ronald Araujo is expected to join training with the team earlier. The defender was injured in training some days after the first match against Getafe. At the time of his injury, it was forecasted that the player would be out for three to four weeks.
While this much time has already elapsed since his injury, Barcelona are in no hurry to get the defender back into action. The club expects the Uruguayan to be fit by the coming week, and to be available for the match against Celta Vigo on 23rd September.
Pedri to return in October
Meanwhile, Pedri is also recovering from an injury to his rectus femoris and another problem with his femoral biceps since August 24. He is expected to return later than Araujo, and the club has estimated his return to occur in mid-October, by the time of the second international break.
The midfielder is currently undergoing physiotherapy sessions and working in the gym. As is the case with Araujo, Barcelona would also be in no haste for Pedri’s return, especially to avoid a relaspe as one he suffered earlier this year.
