FC Barcelona have made a huge investment in the Brazilian market this summer as they have signed the teenager Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. Having tied him, the Catalans are now interested in another of his compatriots.
As previously reported here, Deco had already tried to tie the rising Brazilian midfielder, Gabriel Moscardo, to Barcelona when he was playing only in the youth team of Corinthians. However, Deco was unable to do so successfully, and now Moscardo is playing at a high level in the Brazilian top flight, and getting the attention of top European clubs.
Chelsea taking time to submit another offer
Chelsea was reported to be one of the clubs interested in the player, and was considered to be quite close to a deal for Moscardo. However, the latest report from SPORT indicates that negotiations between Chelsea and Corinthians for the midfielder have now entered an indefinite phase.
The London-based club has been making huge investments in Brazilian market in recent months. However, they have decided to take some time before making their third offer for Moscardo, after having seen their first two offers getting rejected by the Brazilian club. Corinthians are asking €30 million in exchange for the young midfielder.
Opportunity opens up for Barcelona
Chelsea made the first offer for the youngster of €21 million fixed and another €4 million in variables, in addition to a percentage of proceeds from any future sale of the player. However, Corinthians are ready to take their time as they know a good offer for their gem is guaranteed to come by.
With Chelsea now taking their time to submit the third offer, there is an opportunity for other clubs, including Barcelona, to make their own moves for the teenager.
However, Barcelona’s hands may be tied down by their financial conditions, which may make it difficult for them to make a scoop for the midfielder.
