The current FC Barcelona team is performing at a very high level overall this season, but the Blaugranes believe there are still some areas in need of strengthening moving forward.
One such area is that of the flanks, as the Catalans are looking to strengthen the fullback positions to enhance the competitiveness in these positions.
For the left flank, Alphonso Davies has been linked with Barcelona recently, as his contract with Bayern Munich is ending at the end of this season, and he is yet to reach a renewal agreement with the Bavarians.
However, other clubs like Real Madrid are also interested in the Canadian defender, and his arrival at Barcelona is looking quite difficult for now.
On the other hand, SPORT reports that one of the players that the Blaugranes are looking for to reinforce the right flank is the Dutch youngster Devyne Rensch whose contract with Ajax is also ending at the end of this season.
The 21-year-old has progressed a lot in the last few years and has been particularly impressive with his ball control, speed, and offensive game. He is also a part of the Netherlands U-21 team, and although Barcelona have been monitoring him in recent months, a final decision about him has not yet been made.
Still, there is no doubt that he will be an interesting addition to this Barcelona squad, as he will complement the present options on the right flank, while also being available at an affordable price.
However, several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham have also kept an eye on him, and Ajax have also presented him with a renewal offer.
Furthermore, he is not the only player on Barcelona’s radar for this position, as the Blaugranes are still monitoring Marc Pubill, with whom they were also linked in the last summer transfer window.
Currently, Jules Kounde is the starting right-back for Barcelona, and Hector Fort, his substitute, is having very little prominence in the team. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will decide to make a move for the Dutch right-back.
