This summer transfer window could have a few twists in store for FC Barcelona in these final few days. Over the last week or so, much of the club’s attention has remained towards departures but that could soon change. Eventually, Barcelona will also have to think about arrivals once again.
Apart from Dani Olmo’s arrival and the ongoing interest in players like Federico Chiesa, the Catalan club still feels like additional reinforcements can be made. Defensively, for now, Barcelona reportedly believes that a new addition would be more than welcome.
Following reports that Eric Garcia could end up permanently joining Catalan side Girona for €15 million in the final days of the market, Barcelona apparently now have an alternative lined up who could arrive from Germany to bolster the defense of Hansi Flick’s team.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are now looking into the possibility of signing 28-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah. The German defender has not yet renewed with his club and there is a great chance that the Bundesliga side will not want to lose him for free next summer when his contract expires.
That is why, reportedly, this summer could be a good chance for Barcelona to grab the player for a lower price than normal. As per the report, he could end up being bought for a figure close to €20 million, which is a price tag that Barça knows is quite cheap compared to what the player’s normal valuation would be.
However, time is understandably not on Barça’s side and Bayern Munich have also been interested in Tah’s services for quite some time. When it comes to Barcelona, however, Hansi Flick already has an idea about Tah’s qualities given that he coached him during his time with the German National team.
Most of his strengths lie in his physical attributes, both on the ground and in the air. Thanks to his great height and physical build, the player would offer an option that Barcelona could count on to counter certain opponents who depend too much on trying to overpower their challengers.
