It has long been the dream of FC Barcelona to recreate a team that competes for everything. Long gone are the days when Barça could simply pick up any and all players they want from the market, and their approach is now much more strategic. However, even now, Barcelona continue to work in silence to sign their targets.

For much of this summer, the biggest dilemma that Barcelona faced was deciding which forward to pursue. Some key members of the club were in favor of Athletic Club star Nico Williams arriving, while others believed that an option like RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo was more justified.

Both Spanish stars have shown themselves to have unique qualities that make them a good fit for Barça. Nico Williams offers a dynamic and unsettling wide profile that can be dangerous for opposition defenders to face off against, while Olmo provides versatility and knowledge of the Barça system that is almost unparalleled in terms of other targets.

However, it is now believed that the club wishes to sign both of those forwards simultaneously. Both players have reportedly shown an interest in joining the Catalan club this summer, and a lot of positive developments have taken place since then, such as meetings with the agents of the players.

Moreover, according to SPORT, Barcelona are now fully on track to sign both players as well. The interest in them has materialized into something much greater, and it is now an absolute conviction of the club and of its president to bring both stars to Barça.

Reportedly, Joan Laporta believes that this is a golden opportunity for Barça to create something special. He thinks that the club should be willing to make sacrifices right now to sign two of the most promising Spanish players that have emerged in recent times and that their signings could elevate Barcelona greatly.

He wants to push against Real Madrid and match them stride for stride, as per the report. Unwilling to let Los Blancos overtake Barcelona, Laporta believes that the arrival of both Williams and Olmo could be crucial in helping Barça’s agenda in this matter.

As it stands, both negotiations are on track to becoming a reality this summer. Williams, in the most ideal circumstance, could even end up being signed by next week given that everything is in place for Barcelona to do so. His contract duration, the 1:1 rule, and other factors are now fully aligned to make that deal a reality.

Olmo, on the other hand, is not too far from that same stage either. The player and his entourage are enticed by Barcelona more than any other offer from the likes of Manchester United or Bayern Munich. However, only time will tell how smoothly the operation continues to run.
