One of the players most closely linked with FC Barcelona in the last few weeks is the Swedish sensation, Lucas Bergvall. The youngster has been one of the most in-demand young players in the current winter window, and several clubs have made advances to sign him.

However, the player himself wants only to join Barcelona and is not particularly excited about joining any side other than the Catalan club. However, as already reported, Barcelona’s financial difficulties meant they were unable to match the offers that some other clubs were willing to make for him.

Eintracht Frankfurt, for instance, were willing to pay up to €10 million for him, and Bergvall’s club, Djurgarden, was pushing the youngster to opt for the German side, as Barcelona could offer only around €6 million.

Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona will, in fact, increase their bid for the youngster, and match the sum that Frankfurt were willing to pay, i.e., €10 million. Barcelona will pay €7 million in fixed and the rest of the €3 million in variables.

With such an offer, Djurgarden will be content and will no longer resist Bergvall’s move to Barcelona. Meanwhile, the player himself is already totally committed to don the blue and garnet jersey from the next season.

The Catalan club’s management likes the Swedish pearl a lot, especially as they believe that youngsters shining in Europe and outside are going to be the future of the club.

These rising stars will be combined with some more experienced but still young players, and some veterans to get an ideal mixture of youth and experience.

If Bergvall continues growing with the same trajectory that he has shown up to now, there is no doubt that he will grow on to become one of the most important players in such a future Barcelona squad.
